Most people think clumpy, static-filled grounds are simply part of making espresso. They aren’t. A cleaner transfer and quick shake can help create a more even coffee bed before you tamp.
Grounds cling to dosing cups, spill around the portafilter, and collect in dense pockets that can encourage channeling. Every extra transfer adds mess and makes a repeatable workflow harder.
The Normcore 51mm 2-in-1 Magnetic Espresso Dosing Cup combines a dosing cup, shaker, and portafilter funnel in one compact tool. It is designed for compatible 51mm De’Longhi Dedica and La Specialista portafilter baskets.
- Break up clumps quickly: Close the lid and shake for about five seconds to loosen compacted grounds.
- Reduce static mess: The enclosed shaker helps keep loose coffee contained during distribution.
- Transfer grounds directly: The detachable magnetic ring connects the tool to a compatible 51mm portafilter.
- Keep every piece secure: A 27-magnet assembly holds the components together while allowing quick disassembly.
- Rely on durable materials: Anodized aluminum resists scratches and everyday coffee-station wear.
Perfect for De’Longhi home baristas, espresso enthusiasts, grinder-to-portafilter workflows, compact coffee stations, and anyone seeking cleaner puck preparation.
- Add freshly ground coffee and close the lid.
- Shake for approximately five seconds to loosen clumps and static.
- Attach to a compatible 51mm portafilter, transfer the grounds, then tamp and brew.
The silver anodized-aluminum construction brings a polished look to your setup while the modular magnetic design makes daily use and cleaning straightforward.
Shake, transfer, and prep your puck with less mess.

I use this shaker nearly every day. It's looks and feels like a robust, quality item and has held up perfectly. The magnets that hold the two halves together are strong but I still recommend holding it firmly with your thumb over the lid while shaking. 10/10
After the initial learning curve, having never used a shaker like this before, this has worked flawlessly.First, make sure the center bit is fully seated. Just wiggle it back and forth a bit to make sure it is all the way in.Second is how you hold it. I've found what works best for me is to hold the lid on with my pointer finger in the little indent, and my other fingers around the body.Lastly, you don't need to shake it crazy hard. I went a little too aggressive once and got espresso grounds all over.My only minor gripe, and I'm not sure how it'll play out long term, is that the finish is a bit rough and I get some amount of grounds that stay stuck to the inside of the container. It may just have to "season" a bit, or that rougher texture may be needed to help with breaking up clumps while shaking. It isn't a big deal, as I can just wipe it out with paper towel if it really bothers me.

I put this in my cart when it was on a huge sale. I figured if I didn’t need it, I could return it. I love it. I have quit using the wire separator thing. This is more than enough and it streamlines my process. The magnets are pretty good unfortunately I have an offbrand Portafilter so I have to be a little careful. It also separates so you have just the smaller shorter funnel, which does work with the wire thing (I’m a new espresso maker. I don’t have the jargon down yet) I understand now what they say when they talk about Normcore being spot on measurement wise and it’s a fun toy because of the magnets. It has good functionality. I have no idea if the size is right cause I have an offbrand portafilter, good weight, extremely durable and compatible enough that I really like it.It has significantly improved by espresso process and the final product and nearly eliminated channeling much cleaner and easier to use than trying to fuss with the wire thing, but allows you to do so if you wanna do both. Obviously in the video I’m one-handed trying to look through my camera keep that in mind normally when I’m done with this process, it’s much more level in the Porta filter and then I can use these tamper to finalize.
Works surprisingly well with my moka pot cup!
Una excelente adición al equipo de preparación de espresso!Gran calidad, excelente fabricación y muy práctico!
I highly recommend this shaker, i cannot go a day without using this shaker, it makes the process so much faster and much more convenient. I haven’t made a mess at all only one time. Just make sure to hold it tight and clamp down. So the magnets don’t come undone than HUGE mess everywhere, it only happened once. Just make sure to hold it properly before shaking. I really love this shaker, it’s also great because this is the upgraded version so you can take the magnetic funnel off so you can use the WDT tool. It’s fits perfectly over my portafilter but I’m also using a normcore bottomless portafilter so it fits perfectly. I’m very happy with this purchase. I highly recommend this dosing cup shaker. I cannot go a day without it.
I'm really enjoying this product. It has helped clean up the area around our espresso machine. I'm making way less of a mess now. I like that this product separated and could possibly be used as a dosing funnel. I haven't been using it that way, but it was an option. Product works good, some of the coffee sticks to the sides due to static, but that's not really the fault of the product. Happy with this purchase.
The bare aluminum (clear anodizing?) surface has some coffee retention issues. I returned it and replaced it with a black (anodized?) version as it retains less grounds. The black version seems to have a smoother finish, perhaps the color dye is acting like a sealant to the anodized surface. In my usage case of them as shakers I found that the lower part of the funnel (not the gap with the upper detachable shaker) and center pull out section tended to retain significant thin "slabs" of ground coffee. I already WDT my beans so that should reduce the static and I let it sit around for a minute after grinding (while foaming milk) and it seems to just have issues clinging to the grounds. I had washed and wiped down all parts with isopropyl alcohol and used it for a few times to "season" it. No noticeable improvements. The detachable funnel is a neat idea but using a separate funnel below the dosing cup and pulling the center out works fine. The detachable upper funnel is very, very solidly attached by magnets. I thought the multi-piece gaps of the center section would be an issue for coffee sticking but it seems to be the vertical surfaces like the lower cup that has adhesion more than the center piece. Build quality is great. The grind retention this is my personal OCD, it is fit for purpose if you don't have any problems with cleaning it out every so often or losing less than a gram of coffee that's stuck inside the cup without having to brush it out.
