Most people think consistent coffee comes down to better instincts. It doesn't. A small difference in dose or water can change the whole cup, and a precise scale makes those variables easy to see.
If your pour-over or espresso tastes different every morning, guessing is probably getting in the way. With quick readings, a built-in timer, and an easy-to-use design, this scale helps you repeat the brews you love.
The Greater Goods Coffee Scale is built for home baristas who want more control without adding clutter to the counter. It measures in 0.1 g increments, handles up to 3 kg, and gives you the timing and weight information you need for a more intentional brew.
- Dial in your recipe: 0.1 g precision helps you measure coffee beans and water with confidence.
- Time every stage: The integrated timer supports bloom and extraction tracking with count-up or countdown control.
- Protect your setup: The heat-resistant, dishwasher-safe silicone cover helps shield the platform from spills and hot brewing gear.
- Keep your workflow simple: Quick tare, a bright LCD display, and intuitive controls keep the important information easy to read.
- Measure more than coffee: Switch between grams, ounces, pounds, milliliters, and fluid ounces for beans, shots, tea, and kitchen ingredients.
It is perfect for pour-over brewers, espresso enthusiasts, coffee beginners learning ratios, home baristas, tea drinkers, and anyone who wants repeatable results without a complicated gadget.
- Place your dripper, portafilter, or brewing vessel on the scale and tap tare.
- Add your coffee and water while watching the live weight and timer.
- Review the numbers, repeat what worked, and enjoy a more consistent cup.

I have been making pour over at home, and this is as easy to use as it can get.It looks good in the kitchen, and easy to carry with your self for a weekend trip.

I bought two of these for the home after using them at work as a volunteer barista. My daughter claimed the cute blue color for her matcha drinks, and I am using the black one at my espresso bar. They are accurate and look nice. My favorite element is the silicone base which makes it easy to clean. I can run hot water over the silicon to get rid of matcha powder or coffee grinds and dry it to make it look like new.. They are not as thin or compact as other scales and uses batteries but is a great tool and value.
I recently purchased a Maestri House S3 Scale and now this greater goods scale for my coffee making needs. I initially enjoyed the Maestri House, but found it would drift quite a bit (yes, with the cover) for about the last minute of my pour overs, probably due to the heat soaking into the scale from my glass carafe. So I decided to give this scale a try as well.So far from what I've noticed both scales can drift, but this one seems to drift less. I'll give a breakdown of both below:- Greater Goods Scale Positives -++ Uses AAA batteriesThis is a big one for me. While a lithium battery is more energy dense, they are much harder to replace once they stop holding a charge (eventually). Also, you can get sets of rechargeable AAA's so as soon as you run out of battery you just swap the charged ones in with little to no downtime. Give me more products with user replaceable batteries please.+ Physical Buttons, not touch. This is a plus because it's much harder to accidentally press a physical button.+ Silicone cover fits well and stays secure+ Scale is on top of base rather than the unit as a wholeThis is a positive because when I push the buttons on this scale, the scale's weight readout doesn't change.+ Simple designSometimes K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple, Stupid) reigns supreme. While the Maestri House has more features and modes than this scale, I cannot tell you the number of times I've used the Maestri scale wrong according to the manual which would wind up messing up some part of it's pour-over mode. This Greater Goods scale doesn't have that issue because it's a simple device. You have your timer (count up or down), mode, tare, and power buttons annnnd that's it. No extra fluff.- Greater Goods Scale Negatives -- Still drifts, but at least not that badly for me. YMMV- It would be nice to have the count up timer beep once it reaches a set time, rather than having that feature be limited to the count down mode.- Slower refresh rate than the Maestri.- Maestri House S3 Positives -+ More modes (Pour-over & espresso modes)Pour-over mode with customizable ratios, and espresso mode that starts the timer once the espresso hits your cup.+ Looks a bit better+ smaller size than Greater Goods.+ Faster refresh- Maestri House S3 Negatives-- Lithium battery, hard to replace- drifts a good amount when heated by my carafe (with silicone cover on)- touch buttons, easy to accidentally press a different button.- Loose fitting silicone cover, has a tendency to want to slide off the scale.- Convoluted process for doing pour-overs.- Pressing buttons on the scale causes weight readout to change as I push the button.I definitely think there's a market for both of these. But I would personally recommend the Greater Goods (this) scale if your main focus is pour-over coffee.
This scale amazes me in terms of how sensitive and precise it is, very useful, practical, elegant design, it’s portable, you depend on 3 small batteries but if you use the battery safe they will last longer, super easy to use
I track my calories very diligently, so I am constantly having to measure everything that I eat. Doing that with a normal, run-of-the-mill food scale has been a nightmare. They update so slowly that it's so easy to overshoot a gram, then undershoot the correction, then overshoot the correction, etc.But with this scale, it updates almost immediately in real time, faster than I can detect it pausing at all. I can usually hit the exact measurement that I need on the first try without correction. Also, it looks really sleek, and it has illuminated digits that are very easy to see in any lighting. Love it.
This small, inexpensive scale does everything I need to get a great cup or pot of coffee. It is easy to use and has remarkable battery life. Highly recommended.
Use this every day. Looks great and works well.
Great little scale, fast, accurate, and easy to operate. However, it's not very water-resistant on the bottom. Spillover quickly found its way under and into the scale, soaking the electronics and bricking the scale.
Works great, weighs the grounds.
This has been great for measuring foods and liquids, it’s sturdy, accurate, and I like the non-slip silicone cover. The cover is removable for easy cleaning. The battery has lasted several months already, which is great.
Love this scale!!!
Great scale
Me gusta la balanza estoy iniciando en el mundo del café y este es un complemento necesario
This little scale is great! It is very accurate! I checked it with gram weights and it's right on the money. When I'm tweaking a coffee measurement for preferred taste, one tenth of a gram matters. This scale is perfect for those small adjustments. It's also not complicated. I didn't even need to read the instructions. That's important for us guys LOL.All joking aside, you'll like this one unless you honestly need something bigger.
First of all I bought this to replace an old plastic Kitchen Tour that was acting up on me. I mostly do espresso and specifically, lattes, with very occasional pour overs. I have only had this for a week but I really like it. It has good workspace and is light, picks up to move easily with one hand and the cover is attached firmly and does not fall off. But what i really love about it is the large well lit numbers, good early in the morning when its dark. And they are two different colors and very easy to interpret quickly and accurately (am doing single dose hand measured each time). And I really like that when I measure the beans and when I watch the shot there is little lag, the numbers do not flicker, and it is very accurate. It is a real pleasure to work with and I do not need all the bells and whistles, I can push a timer start button, and I can turn it all off when I'm done and ready. A great addition to my work station.
Have been using this scale for a few days, but so far so good. I find the responsiveness fine for this price point. I really like the brightness of the LCD screen. Having the timer on the scale is great for when we pour espresso shots or do pour overs. This scale is a little on the large size for espresso shots. It fits on our Espresso machine but we found we had to make sure it wasn't pressed up against the wall which altered the weight. That said, it works for our purposes and I should have double checked the size.My favorite thing is the physical buttons, they work, we've had no issues, and I much prefer them to the touch buttons on other units like this. This was the main draw for purchasing this item and I am satisfied. The balance is within tolerance based on the set of balance weights that we have. If you want something more accurate you are going to have to exit this price range.Overall, enjoying the product so far. If I remember, I may update on battery life (came with 3 AAAs) if I remember.
Had this for over a year now and no real issues. The only issue I can think of is that if something is a bit too close to the scale, the scale can fluctuate a bit by a gram or so. Just make sure nothing is touching it, especially anything electronic.Beyond that, it's a no-nonsense scale that works great with actual tactile buttons. Its refresh rate can lag behind a tiny bit, but you get used to it by stopping your pours in anticipation. For example, I typically do 300mL pours in total, and I usually start slowing down/stopping at around 280g. Battery life is pretty good, but the battery life indicator doesn't do a good job of letting you know when you need to replace the batteries. So you may end up with it powering off mid-brew, but I've only had to replace the batteries once despite daily use over the past year or so. That being said, it's useful to also do stuff like the 4:6 method based on water level vs timer too.I'd also say it may not be extremely accurate as sometimes it fluctuates by .1 grams, but it is accurate enough for practical purposes. For reference, .1g is simply ~1 coffee bean, and unless you're an espresso perfectionist, 1 coffee bean isn't going to make any real difference. In summary:+ Just the essentials if you only want the essentials+ Tactile buttons+ Display is pretty nice+ Accurate enough for practical purposes+ Battery life very good+ Will work for at least a year, can't say any longer until I own it for longer+ Great for the cost= WIll not refresh weight as quickly as say an acacia scale which costs at least four times as much, easy to compensate for- Battery life indicator isn't great, so it may power off mid-brew every half year or so- Sensitive to adjacent electronic devices, 1 or 2 inches is enough distance- Sensitive to adjacent objects, be mindful of anything that is touching the silicone, even if it's barely touching by a hair
If you've read some of the other reviews, you'll find that this scale has a quirk. Apparently, the loadcell is susceptible to static interference from nearby things (a close wave of the hand will change the display briefly). I read another review that seemed to take the position that this was a flaw and yet the scale still operated perfectly fine. I can concur.. I bought this scale because I liked the design better than other similarly priced options. I can't abide a "green scale" with it's always-on backlight. Not early in the morning. Not late at night. Least of all wasting battery power in the middle of the day when I need that function least. And the myriad "hello" scales -you should realize at this point i've done my research on budget scales- all seem to have various random complaints on build-related issues and accuracy. This is the scale I saw first, with the design I liked most and it has a reasonable precision and indeed, accuracy. I like that the negative display is easy to read without a backlight. I like that the buttons are not touch sensitive garbage that will wear out next tuesday but tactile and easy to press. The functions work simply and as for the "critical flaw": though I can get the readout to change if I move my hand close to the pan, avoiding doing this very specific motion causes the scale to act normally. The scale seems to have reasonable accuracy, which I have checked against my other, more precise (to the hundredth of a gram), tea scale. I think it is well designed - I like the design so much I bought it despite the various specific negative reviews. The one thing i would gripe about other than just the unshielded status of the loadcell is the build quality. It is fairly obvious from the plastic build, and particularly the quality of the plastic, that this is not a premium product. Still, it's by no means bad and I quite like the actual thing more than pictures I've seen of "hello" scales (for example). I could easily see shelling out another 10 or 15 bucks on a more refined version of this very scale, but as it is, I think it is exactly what I wanted. Hopefully it will last for quite a while.Edit: I would like to report back that after a year and six months of daily use, this scale is still kicking strong. I think i've replaced the batteries twice: Actually, after the originals went dead, I replaced them with rechargeable eneloops.. Great Scale. I have no complaints.
