I don’t normally do many reviews, but a friend of mine gave me some Cooper’s Cask beans to try and I will have to say absolutely amazing. I ordered a batch immediately. No more Starbucks, I have subscribed now and this is all I will drink absolutely fabulous coffee.!!!!!

This is a coffee worth trying. I've ordered this many times and never been disappointed with the quality or the taste.

These are not perks me up first thing coffees- like the best whiskeys these are sit down and enjoy your time coffees.The barrel flavors are surprisingly strong, each of the notes mentioned are bright and obvious, and there is no oddly waxy aftertaste other flavored coffees can produce.The coffee beans themselves are a shock in sizecompared to regular store brands- I was afraid I had picked up ground instead before I opened and looked inside. They're smaller than the grocery store brands, but they pack much more in flavor.

Good coffees, couple of samples are maybe over-roasted, can tell by the color, fragance, aroma and flavor, even with a lower ratio. General impression, nice product!

I got this as a gift for my husband who loves coffee. The bags are a nice size to have a full pot of coffee. The taste was not bad and each one had its own flavor which we appreciated. Wouldn’t get it again because we did not care for the taste but I would get it again as a gift for someone else.

I wanted to love this. As an avid whiskey and black coffee drinker, this seemed like it would be right up my alley.Let’s start with flavor. (Best way to brew for optimal flavor: French press) Each package is obviously different and unique, however, extremely underwhelming. You have to concentrate to even begin to taste something different than your regular everyday coffee. I personally give the flavor 2/5, because there is a mild difference between this and your normal cup, but nothing worth the price.Value for the money: Wonderful idea, packaging 4 samples in one box! Each sample is 4 oz. You get several uses out of each bag, ensuring you are able to have more than one cup of each. I don’t mind spending this amount of money to test out a few different samples. I give 3/5, because I love the idea of this. If the flavors were stronger, I would bump up a point or two.Packaging: I purchased whole bean. Each sample came in a sealed, and resealable bag, in the box as shown in the photos. Each bag is 4 oz. I enjoy being able to reseal them, as the seal on it is tight and secure. 5/5.Overall, it’s worth testing out if you’re curious, don’t mind lack of flavor, and have the extra money to spend. Do not expect to be overwhelmed.

Our jobs take us all around the world, so we end up drinking coffee from a lot of different places and producers. I had my doubts as to whether or not this coffee would have its own special character, because so many coffees claim that they do and they absolutely do not.I have to say that from the 1st grind of the 1st bag all the way through to my last cup, this coffee has been a fantastic surprise. I'm not kidding when I tell you that I think that this is my new favorite brand! I was so pleasantly surprised that I took it into work and made everybody smell my coffee… but I didn't give them any :) it's too good to share!At first I was a little put off by the price because it seems like it's a lot of money for a smaller bag. But when you compare the quality, taste, and the fantastic feeling I get from drinking it… well, I'll be buying a lot more. I'm currently on bourbon and rum!

Did not get off to a good start with this boxed set. Started with the rum barrel aged Rwandan coffee and did not care for it at all. Not sure if there was just too much barrel character in the coffee, or if I just like rum far less than I thought. I did enjoy the non-barrel aged Rwandan from the single origin sampler pack, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't the coffee itself that turned me away.The other three coffees easily made up for it though, with the single malt whiskey Sumatran and Kentucky bourbon Colombian ranking among the best coffees I've ever had. The rye whiskey Ethiopian isn't quite at their level, but it was still pretty solid. I would definitely drink the Sumatran and Colombian again, though I don't know if I could justify ordering them regularly, given the price point.

Update: Cooper's delivered a new batch to me and a single origin coffee sampler. Wow what a difference in taste!. This is great fresh coffee. I would definitely order again but I would order directly from Coopers. I am staying away from Amazon for coffee since I have never received a fresh bag of coffee.I tried the coffee in a regular drip coffee maker, and I even stuck the whiskey beans into my automatic espresso machine (Delonghi Eletta). Because these beans are aged when they are green (unroasted) there is no sticky flavor coating like other flavored beans, and as a result the auto espresso machines can grind these up fine. Both were excellent. I have yet to try it in a Chemex, aeropress, and french press.The coffee is a bit expensive, but next time I order, I will make an account on Cooper's website and they have a generous reward system which helps offset some of the cost. In their defense, there aren't many whiskey barrel aged coffee companies out there and it is very labor intensive. Even when I visited the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Seattle and talked to the roasters, they said it was very labor intensive and they probably won't be making more for awhile. I would say this coffee was as good or better than Starbucks' Reserve whiskey aged coffee that was only served in Reserve stores and is no longer available.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Previous Update Edited: The roaster contacted me about my review and I had mentioned that my bags didn't have a roast/expiration date. They said they have changed their process and there is an expiration date on the packages. I have recently ordered a couple bags of other branded coffee on Amazon. One came with 2 days left before expiring, and the other was 5 months old), and it seems like Amazon does not monitor their inventory well. Alot of their coffee they ship is old. I would deal directly with the vendor.They are going to send me a fresh roasted pack of coffee, and I will update my review.Full disclosure: I drink at Starbucks for the convenience, however when they had their whiskey barrel coffee at the Reserve, it was awesome! The rest of their regular coffee is burnt tasting.This coffee is weak in comparison sot Starbuck's whiskey barrel Sumatra, and it goes stale quicker than other coffees. On top of that, the price is not cheap. I would not recommend.

Ok, I am trying to be as fair as possible with this review. I personally did not enjoy the taste of the coffees. I love a good whiskey and I'm a major coffee enthusiast. I hand ground the beans so they were fresh and I brewed espresso shots to make a latte, only using sugar so I could taste more of the coffee rather than a flavoring syrup. It was alright. Nothing super amazing and for thirty dollars I really just felt kinda ripped off. I even felt kinda sick to my stomach after drinking it. That being said this is just my personal opinion from what I experienced. I will be using the box and all to decorate my kitchen instead of actually drinking the stuff so I did end up finding a use for it.EDIT: John got in touch with me and explained the process and per my earlier review I've come to understand maybe aged coffee just isnt my cup of well...coffee. John was super responsive to me and even sent me a pack of non aged regular coffee from his business for me to try. Amazing customer service.

Arrived on time, Great packing, great aromas from each, cool looking branding, coffee flavor is good, back note are good with very good rum/whiskey/rye flavor, not to subtle but not over powering either, you can taste the difference compared to other coffees. No burnt flavor, strong coffee flavor, but very creamy. I haven't tried other barrel age coffees, this if my first of many, so i cant truly compare barrel aged coffee but I have had whiskey and rum in my coffee, and tried many different coffees, the hint of extra flavor is there and it's not a bad thing.This gets a 4/5, instead of a 5/5, cause I'm not a big fan of the "fruity" flavor "mouth-watery" feel of coffees from Asian/Africa. I'm more of a smokey Italian expresso/ french roast kind of coffee drinker, but its still pretty good, so take this with a grain of salt.Side note I'm also a blonde (creamer and sweetener) coffee person and I usually make more then enough coffee for the day so I have extra and drink the rest cold the next day, hot or cold is equal. I also experimented and substituted the water in some brownies with this upspring and battle creek blended, black, and they turned out pretty damn good, so... this might be better suited for dessert, with its fruity notes and whiskey/rum under tones, kind of coffee, then a breakfast one, in my opinion.
